Introduction

This species is found along the eastern seaboard of mainland Australia from Fraser Island in SE Queensland to the Sydney basin of New South Wales.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Yellow to brownish yellow; forewings with basal half of clavus yellowish green; head and thorax with brown, often indistinct, markings, including a small spot on vertex near to each eye, a crescent-shaped mark above each ocellus, a series of transverse bars laterally on clypeus, a few anterior patches on pronotum adjacent to each eye, and basal triangles and a pair of central spots on scutellum. Male genitalia with internal lateral ledges of pygophore U-shaped. Segment X with posterior processes short, acute. Styles with apical process sharply tapered distally to acute apex. Aedeagus with socle region long; shaft laterally compressed basally and at apex, a pair of moderately long posterior processes subapically, directed ventrally and upturned apically, anterior surface of shaft with a pair of very short triangulate processes basally. Female genitalia with posterior margin of pregenital sternite produced medially. Expanded apex of third valvulae nearly 2/3 length of narrow basal region and extended about ½ its length beyond gonopore. Length: ♂ 3.9–4.2 mm; ♀ 4.1–4.4 mm (Webb 1983).
