Introduction

This pale brownish species is known from the Pacific and Oriental regions with the type locality being "Moolooka", Queensland. This is presumably Moorooka, a suburb of Brisbane.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder (associated flora: Oryza sativa L. [POACEAE] Rice).

Diagnosis

Colour sordid cream or pale stramineous; frontoclypeus smoked with brown; ocelli orange or pink bordered anteriorly and posteriorly with a short transverse brown shadow; vertex with medial line and a small spot on each side between medial line and eye, brownish; pronotum with a narrow medial line and two broad longitudinal bands on each side brownish; forewings pale brownish with third apical cell, distal area of middle and inner subapical cell and medial edge of clavus dark brown; brown pigmentation sometimes indistinct, sometimes extending over entire dorsal surface and forewings. Length: ♂ 2.9–3.3 mm, ♀ 2.8–3.4 mm (Knight 1987)
