Species Bactrocera (Bactrocera) dorsalis (Hendel, 1912)

Introduction

Genetic, cytogenetic, pheromonal, morphometric and behavioural data showed no or only minor variation between B. dorsalis, B. invadens, B. papayae and B. philippinensis, leading to their synonymisation under B. dorsalis.

Doorenweerd et al. (2023) provided further evidnece that Bactrocera dorsalis is part of a monophyletic clade that also includes Australian species B (B) pallida (Perkins & May, 1949), B (B) musae (Tryon, 1927) and B (B) cacuminata (Hering, 1941)
