Introduction

This species is widespread along the coast of eastern Australia from southeast Queensland to the Sydney basin in New South Wales. It has been collected on river mangrove, Aegiceras corniculatum (L.) Blanco (Primulaceae), at Patonga, north of Sydney but its host associations are not well defined and it has been collected at localities away from coastal areas.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Mottled yellowish brown. Face pale brownish yellow. Crown, pronotum and scutellum pale brown mottled with yellow. Tegmen hyaline brown; veins brown with pale bars. Male genitalia: hind margin of pygophore narrowly rounded ventrally with a dorsal spear-like extension; aedeagus W-shaped. Xth segment with a pair of narrow, spear-like processes arising from the base. Length ♂ 8 mm (Evans 1981).
