Adult: mellivore, volant.

Larva: sedentary.

Extra Ecological Information

Social insects, living in large colonies, with female reproductive and worker castes, nests of wax and resin (and pollen), in trunks of small (average diameter 18 cm) living trees, flower visiting record: Alphitonia Reisseck ex Endl. [Rhamnaceae], Angophora Cav. [Myrtaceae], Callistemon R.Br. [Myrtaceae], Eucalyptus L'Hérit. [Myrtaceae], Melaleuca L. [Myrtaceae], Rapistrum Crantz [Brassicaceae], Swainsona Salisb.
