Distribution

States

New South Wales

Ecological Descriptors

Carnivorous, epipelagic, estuary, marine, neritic, planktonic.

Diagnosis

Aurelia with 16 small ocular and 16 velar flaps, divided from the former by deep incisions, but from each other only by a shallow groove. The mouth arms are broad, straight, and a little longer than the margin of the umbrella; rounded at the end. The centrifugal branches of the canal system divide at larger angles than in other species, so that the ramification has by no means a slender appearance; there are very few anastomoses only.

Notes

Originally described from Port Jackson, subsequently reported in NSW by Whitelegge, 1889; Stiasny, 1924c; Dakin & Colefax, 1933; and in QLD by Gorman, 1988.
