   Ascidiophilla alba Newman, 2002 (Newman (2002) did not designate formally a type species for Ascidiophilla Newman, 2002; Ascidiophilla was proposed as a monotypic genus, however, and A. alba Newman, 2002 therefore becomes the type species by monotypy); see Newman, L.J. 2002. Introduction

Ascidiophilla was proposed for a new species of flatworm which was found in association with didemnid ascidians on the northern Great Barrier Reef (Newman 2002). Specimens of Ascidiophilla show drab colouration and a noctural habit. The association between these polyclads and their ascidian hosts is apparently commensal; Newman (2002) did not observe any direct predation on the ascidians by the worms nor any damage to the hosts. There is only 1 known species within Ascidiophilla and the distribution of this genus is confined to the northern Great Barrier Reef.
