Taxonomic Decision for Synonymy
- Heymons, R. & Vitzthum, H.G. 1935. Beiträge zur Systematik der Pentastomiden. Zeitschrift für Parasitenkunde 8: 1-103 [85-90] (also referred to 'Armillifer monoliformis australis Heymons, 1932' but without a redescription)
- Riley, J. & Self, J.T. 1981. Some observations on the taxonomy and systematics of the pentastomid genus Armillifer (Sambon, 1922) in South East Asian and Australian snakes. Systematic Parasitology 2: 171-179 [177] (The authors stated that their new species Amillifer australis was “clearly the same” as A. moniliformis australis Heymons, thereby erecting a synonym and homonym)
- Röhlig, D., Dunlop, J.A., Grau, J.H. & Friederichs, A. 2010. An annotated catalogue of the tongue worms (Pentastomida) held in the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin. Zoosystematics and Evolution 86: 129-154 (The authors found the subspecies name Armillifer monoliformis australis Heymons, 1932 problematic as it does not occur in Heymons' (1932) papers. The problem is here solved)
