Species Arachnocampa (Lucifera) tasmaniensis Ferguson, 1925

 

Introduction

This species was originally placed in the subgenus Arachnocampa (Arachnocampa) Edwards 1924. Baker (2010) redescribed the species and designated it type species of the new subgenus Arachnocampa (Lucifera) Baker 2010.

Adult: volant.

Extra Ecological Information

Larva is luminous, produces sticky snares.

 

Diagnosis

Wing with m-cu located basal to r-m; bm-cu straight (not curved), angled backwards towards wing base and 0.72-1.6 times length of m-cu; bm-cu parallel to r-m. Laterotergite with 0-10 setae. Fore basitarsus 1.75-2 times lenght of fore tibia. Larvae with rows of 9 and 10 maxillary teeth plus lobe.
