Species Aplysia gigantea Sowerby, 1869
Introduction
Aplysia tasmanica (from Tasmania) was listed as the only synonymy of Aplysia gigantea by Eales (1960). However, Nimbs et al. (2017) does not appear to recognise the synonymy, identifying A. gigantea as occurring exclusively on the Western Coast of Australia. The World Register of Marine Species notes that the validity of Aplysia tasmanica as uncertain and requires further assessment.
