  Type species:

   Aplysia depilans Gmelin, 1791 by original designation.
• Varria Eales, N.B. 1960. Revision of the world species of Aplysia (Gastropoda, Opisthobranchia). Bulletin of the British Museum (Natural History) Zoology 5(10): 268–404 [271] (as a subgenus of Aplysia Linnaeus, 1767).

  Type species:

   Aplysia dactylomela Rang, 1828 by original designation.

Introduction

Three potentially undescribed species are reported in the literature: Aplysia cf. extraordinaria of Wells and Bryce (1993: 46), Aplysia cf. reticulata of Wells and Bryce (1993: 46) and Aplysia cf. sowerbyi Pilsbry, 1895 of Colemann (2008: 59).
