Introduction

This species was originally described from Auckland, New Zealand, and is almost certainly an introduction to that country from Australia where it has been recorded at Dubbo in the southern part of the South Brigalow Belt of New South Wales and at Unley Park, a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. Both Australian records were from Geranium sp (Geraniaceae).

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: parenchyma feeder (associated flora: Geranium [GERANIACEAE]).

 

Diagnosis

Pale yellowish, stramineous or whitish. Pronotum with a yellow patch on either side of midline. Forewings whitish with a longitudinal yellow streak over claval vein and another over cubital vein. Head as wide as or slightly narrower than pronotum. Vertex slightly produced medially. pronotum widening posteriorly. Male genitalia as in [Anzygina] dumbletoni [(Ghauri)] but pygophore process more elongate, style apex more robust and aedeagus with shaft expanded laterally at apex and processes smoothly tapered at apex. Length ♂ 3.00–3.10 mm, ♀ 3.13–3.22 mm (Knight 1976).
