Larva: parasitic.

Extra Ecological Information

Adults have emerged from Hymenopteran pupae in Armidale and Gordon, NSW and one specimen was collected from Scelephron (Sphecidae) nests in Bayview, NSW in April, and emerged in August of the same year .

 

Diagnosis

Haltere knob with anterior half dark brown and posterior half cream-yellow. Wing venation simple, with no spur-veins. Wing pattern similar to A. asciculus with dense dark brown–black marking on anterobasal portion of wing and remainder of wing hyaline. Line dividing regions distinct and passing from apex of cell a1 to r-m, along R4+5 to level of apex of cell dm-cu and then to apex of Sc (Fig. 13). Tergites 6 and 7 of male abdomen with black hairs and tomentum on median quarter; scattered black hairs and dense silver scales on remainder. Male genitalia with basiphallus of normal proportions and apex of epiphallus a broad dorsal plate terminating in sharp medial projection; broad, flattened lateral flanges surround apex of phallus in dorsal view, not continuing around neck of epiphallus basally, externally neck of epiphallus narrow; ventral hook blunt. Female spermathecal bulb narrow, elongate cylinder.
