Species Anthelia densa Tixier-Durivault, 1965
- Anthelia densa Tixier-Durivault, A. 1965. Quelques octocoralliaires australiens. Bulletin du Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris [published 1907-1971] 2 37: 705-716 [709-710].
Type data:
Syntype(s) QM G4121 samples in alcohol.
Introduction
Although the type specimen was reported to be free of sclerites, this may have been due to preservation in formalin as the material was reported to be blue whan alive; a characteristic colour of xeniids due to the presence of sclerites. Anthelia, which never looks blue, has never been found this far south and this taxa is possibly a species of Sansibia.
Ecological Descriptors
Hard bottom, marine, sessile.
