Introduction
The Anguilloidei, as treated here, comprise three families, two of which are represented in Australian waters, following Nelson (2006) including the families Anguillidae, Moringuidae and Heterenchelyidae. Nelson et al. (2016) included the families Anguillidae, Nemichthyidae and Serrivomeridae in this suborder. They included the Moringuidae in the suborder Moringuoidei.
