Diagnosis
Pedal disc wide and smooth column. Marginal spherules present maybe absent in smaller individuals. Tentacles usually long, not usually covered by the upper part of the column, their longitudinal muscles ectodermal. Siphonoglyphs variable in number, not always connected with directive mesenteries. Perfect mesenteries numerous; more mesenteries at the base than at the margin. Retractor muscles diffuse. Gonads appearing from the first cycles of mesenteries onwards. Cnidom: spirocysts, basitrichs, microbasic p-mastigophores.
