Diagnosis

Body smooth, with 12 longitudinal furrows, and numerous small openings at the posterior end of the body. 12 capitate tentacles at margin of oral disc, each with two longitudinal furrows; Mouth circular, enclosed by 12 swellings. Actinopharynx with 12 longitudinal furrows.

Mesenteries thin, with marginal stoma. 6 pairs of mesenteries. Height 1.5-2 cm, breadth 0.5-1 cm. Column divided capitulum, scapus, and physa. Scapus longer than capitulum and physa lengths put together. No cuticle on scapus, but scapus regularly divided by 12 longitudinal furrows. Transverse furrows, probably due to contraction, present. Column transparent with longitudinal stripes, thin-walled, except where scapus meets capiltulum or physa. Where scapus meets capitulum, the scapus is greatly thickened by increase of the supporting substance (mesogloea?). Where scapus meets physa, scapus greatly thickened by numerous pleatings of endoderm and ectoderm. May be symbiotic with jellyfish, found in tentacles.
