Species Androlaelaps casalis (Berlese, 1887)

Introduction

Some authors consider Haemolaelaps casalis (Berlese, 1887) (or Androlaelaps casalis) to be a junior synonym of H. fenilis (Mégnin, 1876) (e.g. McGraw & Farrier, 1969). Others consider that the description of H. fenilis is not adequate to allow this conclusion to be drawn with any confidence (e.g. Evans & Till, 1966; Domrow, 1980; Halliday, 2011). Even if these two names are synonyms, the name A. casalis must be used, because of its overwhelming usage.
