Introduction

This nicely marked species is widespread and common across the drier parts of southern Australia. It is immediately recognised by the small lip at the bottom of the frontoclypeus. In this it has similarity with species of Cornutipo Evans although species in the latter genus have the lip far more prominent.

Diagnosis

Narrowly wedge shaped, head nearly twice as broad as long, maxillary plates wide, the frons, vertex and crown all but the dorsal margin, flat; the anterior edge of the frons is produced so that it overhangs the clypeus which is almost at right angles to it. The femora of the first two pairs of legs bear a row of short blunt spurs on their interior edges and the hind tibiae have one spur and a few vey small spines (Evans 1934).
