Introduction
Introduced to Kangaroo Island in 1936 and initially thought to have been unsuccessful (Long, 1981), however Carpenter & Horton (1999) reported on a widespread breeding population in the SW of the island.

Extra Distribution Information
Cooktown, QLD to around Wollongong, NSW, mostly east of the Great Dividing Range, and introduced to Kangaroo Island, SA. Historically recorded from west of the GDR, based on museum specimens, but now absent due to hunting and habitat loss.
Australian Endemic.
