Introduction
This taxon was yet another group recognized as a fundamental lineage of Buprestidae as Agrilides (Buprestides vrais, Group VI) by Lacordaire (1857).
The subfamily Agrilinae is undoubtedly the largest taxon of the family due to the presence of the genus Agrilus Curtis, which is likely the largest genus in the animal kingdom, in the nominate tribe Agrilini as well as the largest and most diverse tribe Coraebini, which contains about one-third of buprestid genera. Three tribes with Australian species are placed under Agrilinae: Agrilini, Aphanisticini and Trachyini.
In this Catalogue, 229 described species are recorded from Australia.
