Miscellaneous Literature Names

  • Agenoideus Ashmead, 1902 [lapsus calami for Agenioideus by Banks, 1917:107].

Introduction

Evans (1950) synonymised Aporoides Ashmead, 1902 with Agenioideus. Consequently, the single species of Aporoides recorded from Australia is here listed under Agenioideus. None of the Australian species of Agenioideus have been placed to subgenera, viz. Ageniopompilus Priesner, 1955; Mimochares Wahis, 1970; Rufopompilus Wolf, 1970; Sericopompilus Howard, 1901; Enbanksia Evans, 1965 (as subgenus); Schizanoplius Cameron, 1904 (for priority of this name over Ridestus Banks, 1911 see Wahis (2000:77)); Agenioideus Ashmead, 1902; Iberochares Wahis, 1970; Alloridestus Wolf, 1979.

Krogmann and Austin (2012) reviewed the systematics of Agenioideus, provided a key to species, and transferred Agenioideus ultimus to Spuridiophorus Arnold.
