Diagnosis

Actinodendronidae with the oral disc thrown into long arms, 10-48 in number. Sphincter absent. Tentacles arranged more or less spirally all round the arms, and themselves branched. The tips of the tentacles are provided with long basitrichs forming nematocyst batteries. Longitudinal muscles of tentacles and radial muscles of oral disc ectodermal. 2 broad siphonoglyphs, 2 pairs of directives. Mesenteries few, all or almost all perfect. Retractors very strong, diffuse. All mesenteries apart from the directives fertile. Cnidom: spirocysts, basitrichs.
