Genus Acalyphes Turner, 1926

Introduction

Acalyphes philorites was first placed into the Larentiinae by Turner (1926) on the basis of a typically larentiine wing venational character, the fusion of Sc + R1 with Rs in the hindwing for more than ¼ length of the cell. Subsequently, based on mainlysuperficial similarities, Acalyphes was moved to the Archiearinae by McQuillan and Edwards in 1996 (Young 2006). Tribal placement of genus to Ennominae: Diptychini by Murillo-Ramos et al. (2019), based on arguments by Young (2006).
