Introduction
The Acanthephyridae has long been considered synonymous with the Oplophoridae but recently the latter family was shown to be polyphyletic (Chan et al. 2010), and the Acanthephyridae has been now resurrected to include seven of the ten genera previously in that family (see De Grave & Fransen 2011). Currently five genera are recorded for Australia.
