Diagnosis

Soractellus was defined by Evans (1966) as being similar to Soracte Kirkaldy in broad structural features, differing in the shape and proportions of "several parts of the male genitalia". The main features of the male genitalia in both genera are short broad subgenital plates which are not united and a very short aedeagal shaft forming a cone-shaped ring and surmounted by a pair of long processes. The paramere in Soracte has a long apical process with the lateral process remote from the apex while in Soractellus the apical process is short and curved with the lateral process close to it. In both geners, the species can be defined by the proportions and shape of these various parts.
