Introduction

Gyliotrachela australis was first described from the Chillagoe limestones in northeastern Queensland. Subsequently Solem (1981) described three related species from isolated limestone outcrops in the Northern Territory and the Kimberley, Western Australia. Pokryszko (1996) in a revision of the Australian Gastrocoptinae, considered that all these species were only ecovariants or subspecies of G. australis.
