Introduction

This beautiful leafhopper has an enamelled appearance with cream colouring on a dark background. It is found in the tropical parts of Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Testaceous: vertex with a black impressed spot near the base on each side of the sulculation. Frons and clypeus pale brownish. Pleura and legs more or less blackish. Pronotum and scutellum marked with whitish. Tegmina brownish, veins and some blotches on costa etc. whitish; sometimes a blackish blotch near middle of tegmina. Female: abdomen longer than tegmina; last segment roundly emarginate, pygofers about four times as long as the latter, ovipositor very long. Length 3¾–5 1/8 mm. (Kirkaldy 1906).
