Introduction
Microsporidium lotaensis found in Aedes vigilax (Skuse, 1889) [saltmarsh mosquito]; larval fat bodies (see Prociv 1987).
Based on ribosomal DNA sequence data, the Microsporidia are recognised as Fungi and not Protists. At present Australian Biological Resource Study has retained the Microsporidia as a phylum in the Protists for historical comparative purposes.
