Introduction

This is a very widespread species found in both inland and coastal regions across the northern half of mainland Australia with a record from Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory. It is basically unmarked and reasonably small.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

The species can be distinguished by its fairly small size, its pale colour and absence of markings. The male genitalia are similiar to those of R. napais (Kirkaldy) but can be distinguished by the shape of the subgenital plates, styles and aedeagus. Considerable variation exists in the shape of the subgenital plates and, to a lesser extent, in the aedeagus (Webb 1983).
