Subfamily Eucratopsinae Stimpson, 1871

Diagnosis

Carapace relatively broad, quadrilateral or rounded; anterolateral margins typically armed with 2–4 teeth or lobes behind exorbital angle, rarely entire; front relatively narrow, bilobed; orbits and eyestalks moderately long to very long; cornea usually well developed but small, sometimes reduced. Thoracic sternum wide. First segments of male abdomen not entirely covering sternum between last pairs of legs. Male genital openings coxal but penis often lying in a more or less elongate sternal canal (coxo-sternal). Male first gonopod with several, sometimes complex, apical lobes; second gonopod short, curved.
