Novitates Zoologicae 18: 171-455 [Date published 31 Jan 1912] [393] [although the holotype has features of the pallid east mallee form, it is from the intergrade zone between that form and Melithreptus brevirostris leucogenys Milligan, 1903, see Schodde & Mason, The Directory of Australian Birds Passerines (1999: 279)].
