Globicephalus ventricosus Iredale, T. & Troughton, E. le G. 1933. The correct generic name for the Grampus or Killer Whale, and the so-called Grampus or Risso's Dolphin. Records of the Australian Museum 19: 28-36 [35] [junior homonym of Globiocephalus ventricosus Lacépède, see Hershkovitz, P. 1966. Catalog of living whales. Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus. 246: viii 1–259 [96]; Iredale & Troughton (op. cit.) stated (p. 35) that Delphinus ventricosus was based on the pilot whale or blackfish, which they believed must therefore be called Globicephalus ventricosus; however, Fraser, F.C. 1951. The specific name of the northern pilot whale or blackfish. Annals and Magazine of Natural History 12 4: 942–944 showed that Delphinus ventricosus was in fact Phocoena phocoena].
