Genus Leptograpsodes Montgomery, 1931
- Leptograpsodes Montgomery, S.K. 1931. Report on the Crustacea Brachyura of the Percy Sladen Trust Expedition to the Abrolhos Islands under the leadership of Professor W.J. Type species:
Leptograpsodes webhaysi Montgomery, 1931 by original designation (= Leptograpsodes octodentatus (H. Milne Edwards, 1837); Montgomery described the genus under the heading 'Leptograpsodes, gen. n., webhaysi, sp. n.' while later, in his remarks on the genus, he stated: 'The name Leptograpsodes is suggested to include the three species L. octodentatus (Milne Edwards), L. inornatus (Hess), which may be identical, and L. webhaysi (sp. n.)'; from this it is clear that his new species, L. webhaysi is the type species, while the two earlier species, which he had not examined, were only suggested for additional inclusion. ICZN Article 13.4 states: 'The combined description or definition of a new nominal genus or subgenus and a single included new nominal species, if marked by `gen. nov., sp. nov.' or equivalent expression, is deemed to confer availability on each name under Article 13.1.1'). - Cyclograpsus Milne Edwards, H. 1837.
