   Syntype(s) BMNH 2♂ ♀ (a female specimen is labelled 'type' and has registration number Hym.17.a.180), Townsville, QLD.

Introduction

"Cockerell named the species Prosopis husela in 1910, but Michener amended it to Hylaeus huselus in 1965. However, Cockerell stated that husela was a Malay word for eleven, so Michener should not have treated it as a Latin adjective. When Terry Houston revised the genus in 1981, he used the name H. husela without comment, but presumably for the reason I have just given …" [M. Batley, pers. comm. 2013]
