  Type data:

   Holotype AM ♂ (coll.: 20.iii.1965, D.K. McAlpine), Royal National Park, New South Wales.

 

Introduction

This strikingly marked species is the only one in the genus not yet recorded in Queensland being described from two localities in New South Wales. The female paratype is said to be from "Whiam Whiam State Forest" which is the derivation for the species name. However, the forest in question is actually Whian Whian State Forest.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Head yellowish with a variable pattern of dark brown and black. Pronotum dark brown, black in centre. Scutellum anteriorly brown or black, apex pale yellow. Tegmen vitreous brown, anal and costal margins black; veins black. Length ♂ 8 mm, ♀ 8–9 mm. This species is distinguished by the characteristic shape of the aedeagus (Evans 1981).
