Introduction

There are specimens identified as this species in the J.W. Evans collection from Southeast Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory but, since the identity of the species is in doubt, the identifications of these other specimens as this species cannot be accepted. Kirkaldy based the species on an unknown number of female specimens from Sydney.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

The largest of the Australian species. Similar to B. pelias but larger and more elongate. Testaceous. Frons fairly convex, vertex dorsally short, wide, little wider medianly than at the side. Female: last segment with a short acute lateral spine. Length: 6 1/8–6 7/8 mm. (Kirkaldy 1906).
