S. obliqua Walker, 1855 was described from males and a female. Hampson (1901) considered the type male came from northern India and the type female from Australia. He used the name as the valid name for the oriental species represented by the male. Walker (1855a) had a mixed series and the male called the type by Hampson should be designated as the lectotype rather than the Australian female so as not to upset existing nomenclature. The Australian female is a specimen of A. canescens (Butler))
