Cannon & Sewell (2001) redescribed this species from new material collected from species of Cherax from eastern Australia.

(as Temnocephala dendyi); unspecified location, Australia; ex branchial cavity and surface Cherax bicarinatus (Gray, 1845) (record as Astacopsis bicarinatus); sympatric with T. minor. See Haswell (1893).
