Introduction

This species was recorded from "W. Australia" by Knight (1987) but no further details of location within Western Australia were provided. Its identity, as recognised by Knight (1987), was based on Linnavuori's (1975) interpretation since Merino's original material was destroyed during World War II (Morrison 1973).

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Length: ♂ 2.4–2.6 mm, ♀ 2.4–3.1 mm. Cream or pale yellow, a narrow pale orange or reddish brown stripe medially over vertex, pronotum and scutellum. Forewings with a broad longitudinal reddish brown band usually present along each wing, extending onto lateral areas of pronotum. Longitudinal bands sometimes obscure or absent. Head equal to or slightly wider than pronotum; vertex of uniform length or slightly longer medially than next eyes (Knight 1987).
Knight (1987) described and figured the male genitalia.
