  Comment: Lambkin (1978: 31) referred to a holotype and paratype but Fennah (1949) did not designate a holotype, basing his species on two males. Lambkin's (1978) reference to a holotype is therefore the designation of a lectotype by default.

Introduction

This is a large colourful species of achilid, red, yellow and green in life although pinned specimens fade. In addition to the two males in the type series, only fourteen specimens were available for Lambkin's (1978) revision despite the distribution of the species in the highly collected SE Queensland and NSW North Coast. It is either rare or, more probably, very short-lived as an adult.

Ecological Descriptors

Adult: sap-feeder.

Nymph: fungivore.

Diagnosis

This species is easily recognised by the bright colours, particularly of the forewing. Lambkin (1978) gave a detailed description and differentiated the species from others in the genus with the following features: Total length male >9.5 mm, female >10.5 mm, body length male >5.9 mm, female >6.7 mm. Anterior margin of vertex right-angled to acutely pointed, marginal carina strongly developed, entire; median carina of frons nearly entire, reduced for a very short distance posteriorly; lateral carinae of pronotum parallel; forewing with a small callus in subapical region of CuA, with basal forking of M markedly distal to level of apex of clavus, CuA and M apical crossveins in line; Forewing mostly reddish.
