Introduction

Iotula microcosmos is distinguished from the similar Pseudiotula eurysiana by the combination of tiny turreted shell and closed umbilicus. Common and widespread.

Ecological Descriptors

Eucalyptus trees, litter-dwelling, rainforest, vine thicket.

 

Diagnosis

Shell minute, waxy to resinous brown, trochoidally turbinate to turreted with a high domed spire; protoconch with spiral cords, teleoconch sculpture of moderately spaced, coarse radial ribs and fine spiral threads; umbilicus almost closed by reflection of the columella; diameter 1.2mm.
