Introduction
Lambkin and Kendall (2016) formally recorded this species from Australia for the first time and demonstrated that it is specifically distinct from Y. sabina according to differences in adult phenotype (8 characters), male genitalia and life history (larval food plant preferences, larval and pupal morphology), thus supporting an earlier hypothesis of species level status proposed by D’Abrera (1971) and Parsons (1998). The species was tentatively assigned to the southern Papua New Guinea subspecies Y. algina netonia Fruhstorfer, 1912. Subsequently, Lambkin (2019) confirmed the presence of this ssp from Torres Strait (Dauan Island), based on a single female collected in January 2018.
