Introduction
The Xolalgidae is a family of 21 genera and about 50 species of feather mites that occur on many orders of aquatic and terrestrial birds (Gaud & Atyeo 1996; OConnor 2009). As with most families of feather mites, the Australian fauna is very poorly known, with only four known species in two genera. Ingrassia eudyptula Mironov & Proctor, 2008 is noteworthy as the first known feather mite associated with a penguin.
