Genus Vahlkampfia Chatton & Lalung-Bonnaire, 1912
Diagnosis
Small to medium sized amoebae moving by eruptive protrusions from a hemispherical anterior lobopodium. Red or yellow pigment in some species. No flagellate stage known. Cysts with diverse structure among species, usually spherical or ovoid; never with excystment pores. Marked sequence divergence from (and not monophyletic with) Paravahlkampfia.
