Neotype SAMA R68044 ♂ (One of two paratypes from original designation (no. R2434)), between the Ashburton and Gascoyne Rivers, Western Australia.

Introduction
Based on the genetic and morphological differences, Doughty et al (2015) resurrect and elevate T. gigas to a full species and designate a neotype for this taxon.
