Introduction
Meyer et al. (2022) recorded the occurrence of Telicota paceka affinis Rothschild, 1915 from Australia for the first time, based on 90 specimens collected from Dauan and Saibai Islands, Torres Strait, Queensland over the period 1975–2021. All previous records of mesoptis from this region – a male in 1989 from Mer (Murray) Island (by Johnson, 1993), and four specimens in 1973 and 1984 from Erub (Darnley) Island (by Lambkin, 2021) – were found to have been incorrectly identified and are in fact Telicota augias krefftii (W.J. Macleay).
