Family TEGORIBATIDAE Grandjean, 1954
- Tegoribatidae Grandjean, F. 1954. Essai de classification des Oribates (Acariens). Bulletin de la Société Zoologique de France 78: 421-446.
Introduction
In the classification of Schatz et al. (2011), the family Tegoribatidae includes 13 genera and 42 species world-wide. The family is cosmopolitan, and is especially diverse in forest litter at high altitudes and high latitudes. Mites in this family are saprophagous and mycophagous (Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009). The Australian fauna is poorly known, and includes only three genera, all of which are known only on the basis of unidentified species. Unidentified Tegoribatidae were also reported by O'Dowd et al. (1991).
