Introduction

The Ctenuchinae of the world were revised by Hampson (1898) and listed in Lepidopterorum Catalogus by Zerny (1912). The Indoaustralian fauna was listed in Seitz's Macrolepidoptera of the World Vol. 10 by Seitz (1912-13). Australian species were revised by Meyrick (1886) and Turner (1898, 1905).

Most Australian species were placed in the widespread Amata Fabricius which contains a large number of species which are difficult to distinguish and are very inadequately studied. The genera Ceryx Wallengren, Eressa Walker and Euchromia Hübner have only a few Australian species but are well represented overseas.

There have been no additional publications on the Australian fauna since Edwards (1996)
