In New Guinea S. pantoea (Turner) occurs together with another species superficially identical except the swelling is absent. The male specimen of S. unilineata Bethune-Baker, June 1908 labelled 'Type' in the BMNH from New Guinea is, according to W.W. Brandt (unpublished manuscript in ANIC), lacking antennae but otherwise similar to S. pantoea (Turner). Until both types are dissected the synonymy of these names cannot be resolved)
